Our Story
Musicians Found was founded by Emily Weatherhead in 2021. She was inspired to created Musicians Found while running music programs in a long-term care home and seeing the life-changing impact these programs had on the residents.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, she was no longer able to run music programs in person, and she wanted to find a way to continue to help connect older adults with music.
She applied to Aerie’s Changemakers Grant with the idea of creating an organization that would send instruments to older adults throughout Ontario. She was selected as a recipient of the grant, and Musicians Found began.
Since then, Musicians Found has focused on promoting a sense of community and connection through music. Our blog, Musicians Featured, has shared the stories of over a dozen professional and emerging musicians. Our Music Box Initiative has sent instruments to long-term care homes throughout Ontario, and we expect to reach our goal of sending out $10000 worth of instruments by the end of 2025.
